Hertfordshire Playing Out Supporters Make the Link with Sustainable Living

posted this in Activism, Children's play, health and wellbeing, Community on 21/11/2016

Playing Out supporters in Hertfordshire are getting ready for new conversations about street play during Sustainable St Albans Week from 19th to 26th November 2016. They are making the link between sustainable living and playing out, and are organising events to meet residents and spread the word about street play.

The Herts playing out team – Rob Schafer, Lesley Flowers and Nicola Wyeth – have already worked hard across their county to talk to their local councils about supporting street play. They are hopeful that a policy will soon be put in place to allow residents to apply to close their streets for regular playing out sessions. Currently residents can use the street party process to close their streets either for a street party or for a playing out session.

Lesley, Nicola and Rob are running an information session for anyone to find out more about holdingĀ a street party, or getting started with playing out. The session takes place on Wednesday 23rd November 2016 10.30-11.30am at the Trestle Arts Base in St Albans.
