14 Streets Played Out for first day of Spring!

posted this in Uncategorized on 04/03/2015

14 streets across Bristol had applications approved to play out last Sunday 1st March, coinciding with the first day of Spring. It’s the first time that so many streets have planned to play out all at the same time that we know of, and despite some heavy downpours many went ahead, dodged the showers and played on. These photos show a couple of the streets busy with activity last Sunday.Hamilton Road 14 streets 1

Nine-year-old Ivy was one of the many children who had the freedom to play in her street space that afternoon and explained how her afternoon went.

“We were playing loads of games on the road and we couldn’t have done it if the road was open because we need to run. I liked playing double home base, cops and robbers and tag. Normally, there is not enough space on the pavement to play and we were playing with people on the other side of the road.

“It was tipping it down at the end. There were loads of streets playing and playing out is awesome!”
