Playing Out Arts Trail Exhibition

Amy Rose and her company Bocadalupa created an exhibition for the 2012 Southbank Bristol Arts Trail.

The interactive installation tells the story of Playing Out and invites public dialogue about children’s play, shared use of streets and much more.

The exhibition was set up in a residential house on Greville Road, BS3, for the public to visit as part of the arts trail. It featured an interactive advice desk, multi-media displays, a ‘Public Skipping Service’ and areas for visitors to share memories, hopes and dreams for their own streets.

Around 500 people from all over Bristol and beyond visited the house during the Arts Trail. Highlights included visitors sharing skipping rhymes and playing lore.

One woman shared that there were ‘seasons’ for games:  jacks, 5-stone, skipping etc. Many expressed interest in holding playing out sessions on their street and drew visions for their own streets in chalk.
