Find out what’s happening where you live and if there are streets already playing out. We know that there are many active streets not listed here so please let us know of anything you are doing so we can add it to the map. You can also check our Local Authority Directory to see if your council has a street play policy yet.
A Cambridgeshire County Council spokeswoman said: “The county council is committed to supporting communities across Cambridgeshire in confidently allowing their children to safely get outside to play.
“Our officers have been working with parents and our highways team to revise the paperwork for temporary road closures to help make the process easier for parents, while also offering guidance on safely implementing road closures.
“The council fully supports the Playing Out scheme as a way to encourage children to get outside in the fresh air and be active, particularly over the summer.”
Guidance notes and application forms are available here.
In January 2020 Cambridgeshire Live published this article, reporting councillors expressing support for a petition calling on the county council to reduce the ‘barriers’ and make it easier for street play closures!
