See how the street play movement is growing across the UK

We’ve added a pin for every area where parents, residents, a community organisation or the council (and ideally, all of them together) are starting to change things for children through play streets and related ideas. The movement is growing! See what’s happening near you by entering the name of your local authority (council) in the box below. For more support on play streets and to connect with the play streets movement see our Support for play streets page.

What’s happening in North Hertfordshire?

Road closures in North Hertfordshire are handled by Hertfordshire County Council. To hold a one off play street, you can apply for a TTRO (Temporary Traffic Regulation Order) as if you were running a street party. This is how many areas have started play streets initially – just don’t forget to take photos to show how well it went!

Hertfordshire County Council agreed a pilot of monthly playing out sessions on a street in Tring.  This ran for a number of years. We are really keen for other streets to try play streets so that a county wide application policy can be formalised.
