See how the street play movement is growing across the UK

We’ve added a pin for every area where parents, residents, a community organisation or the council (and ideally, all of them together) are starting to change things for children through play streets and related ideas. The movement is growing! See what’s happening near you by entering the name of your local authority (council) in the box below. For more support on play streets and to connect with the play streets movement see our Support for play streets page.

What’s happening in Suffolk?

Various individuals and community groups are working hard to get Playing Out happening in Suffolk, and the council are working with them on a pilot scheme to launch in 2020.

There is a local Facebook page called Suffolk Play Streets that you can follow for more information and updates.

Ann Osborn from Rural Coffee Caravan and Sally Connick from Community Action Suffolk jointly organised an information session about Play Streets in July 2019 attended by around 30 local residents and community activists. Herts Playing Out Activator Rob Schafer shared his experience and a local Steering Group was formed.

Bury St Edmunds local councillor Donna Higgins recently got in touch to offer support and is happy to be contacted by anyone interested at [email protected].

East Suffolk District Council are working closely with Suffolk Country Council to develop a policy and encourage growth of Play Streets in Suffolk. Contact [email protected] for more information.
